Prevalence of Burnout among Physicians at King Salman Armed Forces Hospital, Tabuk, Saudi Arabia

Introduction: Physician burnout in armed forces involves emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and a sense of declined personal accomplishment. This can have an adverse effect on quality patient care, the healthcare team cost physician health both in-training physicians practicing physicians. The causative factors include excessive long work shifts, inefficient systems clerical burdens, professional home conflicts, lack departmental support, limited force poor leadership culture. Objectives: study aims at measuring prevalence working King Salman hospital Saudi Arabia studying possible related socio-demographic variables. Methods: A cross sectional was conducted between April May 2015 among self‑administered questionnaire used that includes questions socio demographic characteristics, sources stress Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS) this study. Student’s T-test chi square tests were for analysis. Results: Majority males 74.8% aged more than 35 years with rate 14.2%. analyzed variables associated following significantly affected EE P value<0.05, exercise, alternate shift duty, over load, life, satisfaction specialty. As significant DP, overload, life perception specialty found to value less 0.05. Conclusion: is prevalent physicians; we identified Emotional exhaustion (EE), Depersonalization (DP) Personal accomplishment (PA). However, further research recommended other predictors not mentioned current all policy makers must jointly designing implement effective remedial measures burnout.
